Classic: Rainjob

Friend and reader Phillybits shares a classic story from riding on the 42 bus here. An excerpt from his post:

After waiting about five minutes, here comes the SEPTA bus I take to work in the morning. I pull off my jacket hood, close up my umbrella and climb aboard. I pay my fare, walk to the middle of the bus and sit down.

On a wet seat.

"WTF?"

I look up and there's water pouring - literally pouring into the bus - through the fluorescent light fixtures, the windows and even the speakers that announce station stops.

So much for my Gore-Tex flight jacket. So much for my umbrella....

The silver lining - at least the seat had been recently washed.

Oh yea, I have been there. I sat in wet seat on the way home a month or so back on the bus (god knows how it got wet) and I didn't realize it until I stood up since I was wearing a heavy coat. The windows sometimes leak as well and I always put my elbow in the puddles in the window ledge - FUN!

That happened to me on the 110 in the burbs one morning. I noticed noone was sitting on one whole side of the bus and thought, Hey, look at all the open seats. Luckily someone pointed out that niagara falls had been relocated to that side of the bus before I sat down.

Ugh..... at least it was rainwater and not anything else that caused a wet seat!!
